Ray loved his work at Nowra and Wollongong but it was unfortunately curtailed after he developed Type 1 Diabetes stemming from a virus infection.

Once Ray resigned from NSWPF around 1981, he became the Publican at the Dapto Hotel for nearly 10 years.  He and his wife, Chris, also owned Granny Mae’s Store in Wollongong.

He enjoyed his football, his bowls at Nowra and was a real practical joker.

So sad to read of Ray’s passing, I have great memories of him as our Nowra Warriors footy coach as a kid and playing cricket with him at the ex-servos, a truly lovely bloke and my thoughts are with his family, RIP Ray.

I was fortunate to have known and worked with Ray at Wollongong. He was a wonderful person aka blossom.
Chris, to you and your family, Lorraine and I extend our sincere sympathy.
We know what a great partner you were to Ray and the love that Ray had for his children and grandchildren. It is close to 5 years since we last saw you at a 75th birthday but it was a great catchup. Sorry that we are unable to attend the funeral service on Monday but we will be with you all in our prayers.
Could you please provide a contact address and or phone number.
