Motor Vehicle Accident

Michelago

7 February, 1947

 

On 6 February, 1947 Constable Bloomfield was performing general patrols of the Michelago area, where he was the Officer-in-Charge. About 5pm he left Jerangle on his police motor cycle outfit, intending to visit a nearby property. A few minutes later the cycle collided with some large boulders beside the roadway and the constable was thrown to the ground, sustaining severe injuries. He died in the Queanbeyan Hospital the following day.

 

The constable was born in 1915 and joined the New South Wales Police Force on 17 April, 1941. At the time of his death he was stationed at Michelago.
