Nothing is known of the unfortunate death of Constable Crawford other than a brief article which appeared in the Rockhampton Morning Bulletin dated 29 December, 1945.

 

DETECTIVE FOUND DEAD IN POLICE GARAGE.

TAMWORTH, December 28. The body of Detective Constable Jack Crawford, 42, was found in the police garage this afternoon. Beside the body was a repeating rifle and a box of .32 calibre bullets. There were extensive injuries to the head. Crawford had been stationed at Tamworth for the last six years. He worked as usual this morning, going off duty at 1 o’clock. The body was found at 2 p.m. Crawford was to have gone on leave next Tuesday and intended to join his wife and four children at Tweed Heads.

 

The constable was born about 1903 and at the time of his death was stationed at Tamworth.
