Donald (Don) Freudenstein served the Police Association as branch secretary, delegate to conference, Executive member, trustee and vice-president spanning the years from 1985–1992 when he was promoted to inspector. In 1996 he was seconded to become secretary of the Commissioned Police Officers Association (CPOA). Following the amalgamation of the Police Association and CPOA in 1999 he resigned to take up the position of commissioned officers’ co-ordinator with the Police Association, a position he held until his retirement in 2004. A veteran unionist, Don was a finalist (1 of 3) in the ACTU Organiser of the Year Award 2002. He died on 6 April 2015.
