Ken ‘Bert’ McMillan passed away yesterday ( Wednesday 25 June 2014 ) after a 6 month battle with a severe brain tumour.

Ken had worked at Wollongong for many years and then went to Hurstville where he was the Licensing Sergeant. He retired 5 years ago.

His funeral will be conducted by Dave Warner, the Police Chaplin at 11am Thursday 3 July at St Phillips Anglican Church Port Hacking Road Caringbah.

 

A top guy who leaves a loving wife and two daughters.

Ken served as a NSW police officer for over 30 years, working in licencing, retiring as a Sergeant. Ken has been involved with AKKF for over 6 years and 4 years as Honorary Secretary. He has also attended numerous camps as a leader and bus driver. Ken since retiring from the police force has volunteered in a number of other community organisations including, Sutherland P.C.Y.C., Cronulla Sailing Club and Shire Wide. One of Kens daughters Alison is also heavily involved as a leader at AKKF.

For those that never knew the reason for Ken’s nickname of ‘Bert’ well here it is. He had an uncanny resemblance to the then Wollongong Magistrate Mr Wilson SM also known as ‘Bert.’
