On 8 December, 1943 the sergeant was walking home from duty at the Ryde Police Station, and when about 150 metres from his home in Rothsay Avenue, Ryde he collapsed and died. He was survived by a widow and five children, as well as a brother, Sergeant Percy Booth of No. 1 Division.

 

The sergeant was born at Castle Hill about 1896 and at the time of his death was stationed at Ryde. He was a World War 1 veteran and had previously served at Balmain and Hornsby Police Stations.
