Security Licence Classes, Required Qualifications And Documentation

 

Licence Class Qualification Documents Required
Class 1
1A To patrol, guard, watch or protect property (including the guarding of cash in transit). Completion of the Certificate II in Security Guarding and Senior First Aid Certificate. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copy of ASF Level ll Certificate in Security Guarding clearly showing units of competency attained. Copy of a current Senior First Aid Certificate. (See ‘Training requirements’).
1B To Act as a bodyguard Completion of the Certificate II in Security Guarding and Senior First Aid Certificate. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copy of ASF Level ll Certificate in Security Guarding clearly showing units of competency attained. Copy of a current Senior First Aid Certificate. (See ‘Training requirements’).
1C To Act as a crowd controller or bouncer. Completion of the Certificate II in Security Guarding and Senior First Aid Certificate. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copy of ASF Level ll Certificate in Security Guarding clearly showing units of competency attained. Copy of a current Senior First Aid Certificate. (See ‘Training requirements’)

 
 
 

Licence Class Qualification Documents Required
Class 2
2A To Act as a Security Consultant Documents or references that demonstrate a minimum of 5 years experience in the Security Industry (of a kind which equips the applicant with sufficient knowledge to engage in the activity authorised by the licence) OR qualifications and experience of a high standard which demonstrate to the Commissioner that the applicant is equipped with sufficient knowledge to engage in the activity authorised by the licence. Written references from former employers, with explanation of relevant experience and period of time employed. Supporting information relating to experience eg. Detailed relevant work history/resume. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copies of relevant training certificates (if applicable).
2B To sell, carry out surveys, inspections and give advice about security equipment. No qualifications are required. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form).
2C To install, repair, service or maintain security equipment. Relevant trade qualifications and/or membership of a recognised Industry/Trade Association. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copy of certificate indicating completion of relevant qualifications (if applicable). Copy of certificate of membership of an approved Industry/ Trade Association (if applicable).
2D To provide training or instruction in relation to any security activity. (Not firearms). Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Minimum of 3 years experience relevant to the security industry. Two written references from approved referees (identified on the application form). Copy of Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Supporting information relating to relevant experience.
MASTER To conduct a business of providing people to carry on security activities. Membership of an approved Industry Organization. Copy of the Certificate of Registration of the Business (if applicable). Copy of membership of an approved Industry Organization.

 
The qualifications for each licence may change from time to time on the authority of the Commissioner of Police. Should any changes occur, licence holders will be given adequate opportunity to comply with any variations in the required qualifications.
